Stationery
Writing letters isn’t as common a practice as it was in the past, so finding the right paper is difficult. There are very few stationery stores around, and the ones that do exist usually have a pretty specific clientele—people shopping for invitations for weddings, graduations, etc.
I find a lot of stationery at thrift shops and online. I don’t always use traditional stationery. Really, you can use whatever you have on hand to write a letter. Write it on the back of a receipt if that’s what you have. I once wrote a letter on the tail end of a roll of receipt paper after I changed it out at the office.
If all you have is a plain piece paper you can always add things to make it more interesting. Stickers, washi tape, or doodles are easy and inexpensive to acquire. If you want to go toward full-on cute, then I suggest searching “kawaii stationery” online. There are a ton of online shops that sell Japanese-style stationery products. You can find paper, envelopes, stamps, washi tape, stickers, pens and more.
I love these cat paw pens from Kawaii Pen Shop.
I found this letter set on Amazon.
I wish I was more artistic because I found some links on Pinterest that show how people have decorated the outsides of their envelopes. They are very cool and much nicer than anything I am capable of producing.
P.S. Am I the only one who sees these and wants to send mail to the address on the envelopes to see if they are legit people’s addresses?
