Cheap Rent = Stolen Identity

We have been looking for a house to rent while Jon is in grad school and thought we had hit pay dirt the other day when we found an ad on craigslist. It is a nice 1500+ sq. ft. home right near Kyle's school and a park for a very reasonable price, more reasonable than we had seen so far. The ad had pictures and included the address so after we e-mailed for more information we went for a drive to take a look. When we got to the house we noticed a For Sale sign on the lawn and cars in the driveway. We got really discouraged because that probably meant they were only looking for short-term renters while they sold their house.


A day or two later we received the following e-mail:

Thank you for the most eloquent response to my listing, I'm the owner of the house you are making inquiry of. Actually i resided in the house with my family, before and presently we had packed due to my transfer from the place where i work as general manager of Terry Group of Company and now situated in the (West Africa Nigeria) and presently my house is still available for rent and It include the utilities like hydro, washer and security do you are not going to pay for utilities. I want to rent my home for longterm lease because i will be staying long in West Afrtica,  Please i want you to note that i'm a kind and honest and also i spent a lot on my property that i want to give you for rent, i will want you to take absolute care of my house and I want you to treat it as your own, money is not the most important thing but i want you to keep it tidy all the time so that i will be glad to see it neat when ever i come around.

NOTE: You can only drive by and see my house from the outside and if you are interested in renting get the application filled out and send it back to me. I would have really love to ship the keys to someone in state but i don't have anybody there right now and i don't want to make use of any third party because i dont trust them that is why am handling my property myself.

Not an hour after receiving it we contacted the realtor who had listed the property and gave them the information. So, apparently, that Nigerian prince who has an inheritance he would like to share with you, also has a house he wants to rent for cheap.
