I like to include something extra in my letters when I can. Usually it’s something small, like a sticker or a bookmark because that is what fits in a flat envelope. I want everyone who receives a letter from me to be excited about what they will find. I don’t have box of random stuff that I pull from when I need it, but rather, I like to choose something specific to what I am writing about in my letter, or something that reminds me of the recipient.
I might include a crossword that has a clue about something I am discussing, or a scratch n’ sniff sticker of the recipients favorite food (like pancakes). I hope that it makes the recipient feel special and not like an afterthought or someone I have to check off on a list of letter recipients.

I saw these bookmarks that were used as part of an in-store promotion at a Felix Jud bookstore in Hamburg, Germany. They are beautiful, and I think I need to see if I can get my hands on some of them somehow. These would be perfect to include in a letter to my sister, who is an avid reader like myself.
Tip: If you find an article or a cool advertisement in a magazine you want to send to someone, try using the article/ad itself as stationary. Write a letter around the edges and on the back of the page. Be creative.
