CONTEST GUIDELINES

The Very Short Fiction Contest is open to all writers.
Any story that has not appeared in a print publication is welcome.
We invite any length stories from 300 to 3,000 words.

DEADLINES

The Very Short Fiction contest is held twice a year and is open to submissions in March/April and July/August, with the following deadlines:

April 30 | August 31

NOTE: All contest deadlines have a one-week grace period.

READING FEE

$16 per submission

PRIZES

1st place: $2,000 | publication in Glimmer Train Stories | 10 copies
2nd place: $500*
3rd place: $300*

*Or, if accepted for publication, $700 and 10 copies of that issue

ANNOUNCEMENT OF WINNERS

Winners will be contacted directly one week prior to public announcement in our bulletins:

March/April contest announces July 1.
July/August contest announces November 1.
